Treating boating law and psychology with humour
The Legiplaisance association has just released its first comic strip, called "Les III Commandements du parfait plaisancier". Fun and educational, this booklet of about thirty pages addresses the issue of safety at sea and psychology on board in a humorous way through three chapters..
- Command I - My crew and I will protect
- Commandment II - Regulation will feed me
- Command III - My knowledge will be developed
This guide is suitable for both novices and sea lovers thanks to its light tone, the many topics covered, from law to basic rules. Very easy to read, it makes it possible to"desecrate" the terms and legal rules and to put within reach of all important knowledge and safety rules to any yachtsman. The topics are varied and explained simply in one page.
The idea of approaching rather technical subjects in the form of comics is very good even if the drawings do not bring much. For my part, I find that they make reading more fluid and brighten up the text, but they are not all necessarily funny.
Three chapters, three themes
The first part focuses on the basic safety rules, before going to sea and in the event of an accident: preparing your navigation, wintering, seasickness, the waterway, falling at sea or alerting emergency services.
The second part deals with the regulations in an accessible way on various subjects: purchase & sale of a vessel, co-ownership, collaborative pleasure boating, liability of the skipper or leisure fishing.
Finally, the last chapter deals with the know-how and human qualities of the yachtsman: the different profiles of yachtsmen, the qualities of the crew or the organisation.
