A remarkable top speed
The announcement by SEAir, on 25 January 2017, with a photo to back it up, of the first flight of its Mini 6.50 foil-powered aircraft made a lot of noise. The performance of a stabilized flight on an ocean racing monohull was a first. SEAir had announced that it would reach 15 knots of speed for a real wind of 8 knots.
A first video
The purpose of the release was essentially technical and only one photo was published at the time. After having been able to study the technical videos made during the flight, Bertrand Castelnérac and his team have now released a 30-second low definition video. It shows the SEAir Mini 747 flying flat out over the waves.
More trials to come
If we stay a little bit hungry, the trials should resume quickly. SEAir is announcing new videos soon and we are looking forward to seeing the flight over longer periods of time?
