Erplast L, a modern catamaran for the family

Accustomed to sailing schools, Erplast now offers the L: a multi-purpose catamaran that should appeal to everyone, communities and individuals alike.

After launching the M, Erplast develops its range of multi-purpose catamarans. The L is longer (4.70 m) to embark up to 2 adults. The shipyard, which specialises in rotomoulded catamarans, wanted to create a very versatile yacht.

Thus the rotomoulded polyethylene hulls have very resistant mechanical characteristics. This material is also chosen by sailing schools for its robustness. But on the L, Erplast wanted hulls with modern shapes, with a double step and an inverted bow, as is done on other sport catamarans.

For safety and efficiency, the hulls are tilted outwards with a 5° dihedral. This angle is calculated so that the leeward hull is vertical when the windward hull is flush above the water. Ideal position for speed. And by being vertical, the leeward hull provides the best anti-drift plane.

The connection between the floats and the (aluminium) beams is made with an insert on the float. This makes assembly easier and distributes the forces more evenly. This is where the boats work hard.
