Glastron enters the family cruiser market

The new Glastron GS 259

Glastron presents at the Paris Boat Show a 7.62m motoryacht that is particularly habitable and ideal for a weekend at sea with the family. It is the first and largest model in the GS range.

At the Nautic, the brand is presenting the all-new GS 259, a 7.62-metre-long cruiser designed for the European market. "The American market is small enough for the cruiser, which is more clearly destined for the French market." explains Christophe Lavigne, Head of Brands. In terms of look, it should be noted that the foredeck is very high with a square nose and a forward width that can accommodate a cabin. To maintain performance, the hull is V-shaped at the bottom.

The Glastron GS 259 is an open launch for family and friends outings, with a large, spacious, functional and smart cockpit. Note the centrally opening windshield, which gives access to the foredeck, thanks to steps installed on the console, on which there is a large sundeck. In contrast to the French market, Americans are fond of this layout, which allows them to forget about the side decks and thus gain in cockpit space.

The cockpit is set up on the starboard side with a 2-person armchair, whose removable backrest makes it possible either to enjoy the saloon or to pilot. Behind it, there is a large U-shaped sofa, whose rear backrest can be easily and quickly extended to create a large sunbathing area facing the sea, or a bench seat facing the sea. The removable backrests create many possibilities to enjoy sailing in comfort.

On the port side, there is another bench seat at the bow, and a kitchenette equipped with a sink, refrigerator and hob.

Inside, there is a beautiful living space for 4 people with a saloon that can be converted into a double berth, a "breakfast" kitchen for having breakfast, and an independent bathroom. At the stern, there is a second sleeping space for 2 people, which closes with a curtain.

Glastron is a legendary brand in the United States, acquired through the RecBoat 2 1/2 years ago by Groupe Bénéteau and now distributed by Jeanneau. This brand was born in the 60s and 70s and quickly became the leader thanks to numerous partnerships with Hollywood. One of the famous boats - a GT 150 - was seen in the film Live and Let Die (1973) at the hands of James Bond in a frenzied chase. Then again in Moonraker and Dangerously Yours.

The brand was relaunched 4 years ago ½, before being bought out by the Bénéteau Group, with an attractive, fun and fast, entry-level/mid-range, therefore affordable product. In 2016, the range consists of 23 dayboat or cruiser models, outboard, stern drive and jet drive, from 18 to 25 feet.
