Wajer 55, retro design and concentrated technology for luxury lovers

Wajer Yachts will present at the Monaco Yacht Show (Sept. 28 - Oct. 1) its new and largest boat in the range, the Wajer 55. With a length of 16.01 m, this weekender has a versatile sailing program and retro lines to match. Technology is everywhere in the layout.

Wajer Yachts was present at the Cannes Yachting Festival with the Wajer 38 and the Wajer 38S, a variation of the dayboat with a central console. The boats were used to transport VIPs to the show or to welcome the jury of the Concours d'Elegance on board. It was impossible to miss their slender, chic and retro silhouette with a modern interior.

The Dutch shipyard is now preparing to launch the largest model in its range, the Wajer 55, a chic and elegant 16-meter-long weekender. It uses the design elements of its smaller brothers, the Wajer 37 and Wajer 38 (both 11.30 m), but adds innovations usually seen on superyachts. This boat is already a success, as the shipyard has announced that 12 boats have already been ordered even before its official launch. While it was to be officially presented in Cannes, the Wajer 55 will be unveiled at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show.

"We decided to create a powerful powerboat that combines both a sporty exterior with an exceptional degree of comfort and state-of-the-art innovations." explains commercial director Dries Wajer. And he adds "The customers who ordered a Wajer 55 were all looking for a versatile boat. Couples were looking for a larger weekender, families with children were looking for more space and superyacht owners were looking for a chaseboat. The appeal of the Wajer 55 is that it is a great boat to share with friends and is aimed at connoisseurs who appreciate the finer things in life.

In terms of innovations, many of the equipment have been automated and can be set up (and taken down) electrically. For example, there is a push-button system that automatically extends and inflates the fenders on each side of the boat. This operation can be done remotely or from the cockpit screen. "Wajer Yachts is the first shipyard to implement this system, which is currently patented, explains Dries Wajer.

The anchor is also automated (electric windlass) and controlled from the cockpit by a camera. The bimini is also fully automated and retracts into the lounge area at the rear of the cockpit. In the same way, the cockpit table is housed in the floor thanks to a hydraulic mechanism, which frees up space. Finally, the bathing platform frees a gangway wide enough to accommodate several people and adjusts to the height of the dock.

The Wajer 55 promises to be a comfortable boat to sail and very maneuverable since it is light (19.5 tons half-load), but also quiet. But it is not only a beautiful luxury object since it should also be very powerful (38 knots of maximum speed). It is equipped with three Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines of 435 hp (joystick drive) and its V-shaped hull and its redans should give it a nice balance and a smooth navigation. The rear space houses a Williams Turbo Jet tender of 2.85 m, completely hidden under the sunbathing area and easily launched (hydraulic system).

The adjustable console (it can be moved forward), protected by a 4 m wide wraparound windshield, is equipped with four Raymarine Glass Bridge multifunction touch screens. The cockpit is equipped with four seats with suspensions so that everyone can enjoy the navigation. Finally, the cockpit floor is movable and can be raised for a better view or lowered for protection from the elements. Both the foredeck and cockpit feature large sunbeds, proving that the Wajer 55 is a boat dedicated to comfort.

Below deck, there is a fully equipped galley, and sleeping accommodation for four to six people (a double cabin and a twin cabin). To build the boat, Wajer Yacht relied on the expertise of two major players in the Dutch superyacht industry: Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design for the overall design and Vripack for the naval architecture and hull.

The Wajer 55 is built to order with numerous customization options and sold at a price of
