Soon available for sale, the Sea Tags bracelet has just received an award from the West Web Festival in Brest 2016. This is an opportunity to present the latest improvements of this product for rescuing people overboard.

Discovered at the 2015 boat show, the Sea Tags is a bracelet to warn from man to sea. Unlike existing systems, this one does not require any installation on board the boat.

We met the dynamic team that created this system and has been developing it for 2 years now. A team very happy to present its trophy, this award recently obtained.

The bracelet emits a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) signal that is picked up by your smartphone. When the signal cuts off, a (free) application emits a large audible signal to warn the crew of a man overboard falling.

Since the prototype presented in Paris in December 2015, the Sea Tags has evolved considerably. Now the application is available with a really loud beep (even if the device is in silent mode).

The new transmitter has an improved range of 160 m thanks to the development of a specific antenna. The autonomy is announced for 3 months with a battery that can be replaced by the user. If the user can start the bracelet, it stops itself after 12 hours of immobilization (it includes a 2-axis accelerometer). This solution has been implemented to avoid unintentional stops (child playing with the button for example).

A new silicone shell has been developed. It is available as a bracelet or neck strap (which can be integrated into a lifejacket). Of course, the beacon is waterproof. It has a QR code engraved on its back side to allow pairing with the smartphone.

The advantage of this product is to work with all the phones on board to alert all crew members. An SMS can also be programmed to alert a person ashore.

Available in November 2016, this product will be offered at 69 euros per bracelet. A small price that should democratize the system so that as many people as possible are protected.
