Outremer 4X, an X that means performance

The Outremer shipyard has just launched a racing version of its 45-foot model. Lighter from the bottom of the hull to the masthead, the performance should be there.

Outremer has just developed a sharpened version of its Overseas 45 . This Barreau-Neuman plan for fast long-distance cruising has been improved and lightened to offer a version rich in sensations.

Launched under the name Outremer 4X, the catamaran has gained 2 feet more in length (by lengthening the skirts). On the construction side, a gain of 500 kg was achieved on the hulls. The hulls are always sandwiched for dead works and monolithic for live works. But now the junction is made much lower in the hulls (increasing the proportion of sandwich). Many carbon reinforcements ensure rigidity and the structural partitions are also made of carbon.

On the appendages side, the two sabre daggerboards are made of carbon, as are the mast and boom. It is also a rotating wing mast. Still in this weight hunt, the rigid bimini found on the 45 is eliminated in favour of a canvas bimini with two carbon posts. Note the carbon handrails, all of which are also made of carbon.

On the sail side, the genoa area has been increased (+16 m2). Also note the dual mainsail sheeting system for adjustment on each edge. This catamaran retains one wheelhouse and two tiller stations.

Inside, this version remains very comfortable, classically arranged with 3 or 4 cabins, but without any doors!

Already that the Outremer 45 was known as a good walker, no doubt that the 4X should make the powder speak!
