The Iguana 29, the amphibious boat for use on land and sea

The Iguana 29 is a sporty and elegant tender that has the particularity of being able to navigate at sea and to roll on land, thanks to large retractable tracks. Discovery of a phenomenon.

Creating an amphibious boat, the desire of a man

The Iguana 29 was born from the desire of one man, Antoine Brugidou, to create a new type of all-terrain boat. And it is the case because by creating a boat able to go as well on sea as on land, Iguana Yachts was born. And to create this amphibious boat, its creator was inspired by the English Channel, along the Normandy coast, known as one of the most difficult places for sailing. 30 years of sailing in these conditions (high tides, currents, rocks, rare harbor infrastructures) allowed the creator of the Iguana 29 to invent a boat that could move as well on land as on sea, without affecting its navigability.

It was then necessary to find out if such a boat existed and after studying the patents filed during the last century, none was capable of landing on the ground and of making a hundred meters or several kilometers to park the boat. The main amphibious boats that existed were boats capable of crossing a river, but nautically poor.

With his friend Antoine Fritsch, a French designer, he set out to create a beautiful and efficient amphibious boat. At first they started with the idea of wheels, but there were too many drawbacks, especially in the design. The wheels are quickly limited on very soft grounds like sand or mud.

A patented amphibious model

The idea of the undercarriage mounted with rubber tracks was born. Perfect for climbing anywhere, even with heavy loads, and able to fold over the sides of the boat until it almost disappears. The rubber strips serve as bumpers.

The engineers then had to integrate these "caterpillars" into hulls, a real challenge. As a result, this Iguana Yacht design has been patented around the world. "So we created a boat that pushes the boundaries of design and engineering."

Now, six years later, Iguana yachts are distributed worldwide and are recognized as efficient amphibious boats. And their presentation in 2011 delighted the public.

The uses of Iguana Yachts are vast. They allow clients the freedom to hop on their boat directly into the water. With this boat, there is no need to drive to the harbor, no worries about mooring or docking. Inaccessible beaches become accessible, but you can also simply sail effortlessly, water ski or fish with your Iguana boat. It can also be used as a tender for yacht owners.

Many design options are available: adding leather, changing the paint (Gold and Platinum) so that everyone can personalize their Iguana Yacht.

The Iguana 29 is equipped with a German 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection coupled with 3 hydraulic cylinders controlled by the engine control unit computer located on the console.

The pumps use 50 liters of non-polluting and recyclable oil that deploy the mobility system by means of 4 cylinders and propel it thanks to two powerful hydraulic motors located on each side of the boat.

Three versions available

The Iguana 29 is available in three versions:

  • Exclusive

The exclusive version is a luxurious, elegant model with impeccable finishing touches to create an almost unique boat. The Iguana 29 in this version is adorned with the most refined materials (gold, platinum and leather). It can accommodate 7 people. The center console is protected by a hard top, crystal glasses are enclosed in a leather covered box for safe storage. Lots of stitching on the seats creates a contemporary and warm atmosphere. Under the seats, there is ample storage space.

  • Classic

The Classic version is the Sport version of the Iguana 29 with great quality and performance. Its very sharp design at the bow, its simplicity of form and its design without gadgets correspond to a sport use. Like the other models, it comes with a wide range of options: colors and finishes. It also remains comfortable with materials that give it finesse.

Rugged, it is built like a 4x4, but keeps its recognizable design. With all-terrain capability, it allows access to remote areas for fishing, snorkeling, surfing, biking or just plain fun boating.

The interior is designed to combine comfort and practicality. The cockpit has been extended to accommodate bikes or a surfboard. All surfaces have been designed to be easily cleaned. On the top, a roll bar allows to practice sliding sports.
