The new Tricat 30, comfort and speed in cruise

The Tricat shipyards are launching a new boat, the Tricat 30, which will be delivered next September. Folding, like the Tricat 25 Evolution, it combines speed and comfort when cruising.

The Tricat 30 is a fast cruising trimaran, foldable, but not transportable" in the strict sense of the term, because it is wider than the road gauge" explains Antoine Houdet. Category B, she is designed for relatively offshore sailing. Built in infusion, it features carbon appendages and linkage arms. Thanks to its spacious interior, it can accommodate up to 6 people . "There is a panoramic L-shaped saloon and a galley worthy of the name, a toilet with w.c., shower and sink, a cabin forward and a double berth under the cockpit." explains Antoine. What distinguishes it from its predecessor, the Tricat 25 Evolution, is mainly its size and its interior space, which will be greater. " In terms of looks, we'll stick with Tricat 25 Evolution."

The first model has already been sold and molds will start in 15 days. This first boat will be sailing in autumn. "With this first boat sold, we're getting down to business. This is not a project that will fall through. We'll be regularly posting photos on Facebook to show the progress of the construction."

The Tricat 30 is designed as a fast boat for the general public. With a speed of over 20 knots, it's not designed to be sailed on a hull. " The Tricat 30 is designed to keep part of the central hull on the water, as specified in the specifications. It must remain within everyone's reach."

Antoine Houdet explains why he chose to use a size 1 model to design his boat

"We've built a scale 1 model since the whole boat won't be built on our premises, as the premises can't handle it. It also has other functions:

  • Helping us finalize the boat's ergonomic details to make it more successful (setting up the engine station, fine-tuning details before building the boat);
  • Before the boat is built, we can show it in its actual size and present it to interested parties;
  • We save a lot of construction time by preparing our wiring for electricity and water, and checking that everything fits together as planned...

It's the first time we've done this, but the Tricat 30 is bigger; it's less justified on the other models. A lot of skippers do this for the ergonomics of their cockpit, even though we do the drawings in 3D."
