The commercial court of Marseille has just accepted this Friday, November 28, the application for suspension of payments requested by the Corsican shipping company on November 4. SNCM has therefore been placed in receivership with an observation period of 6 months, until May 28. The receivership could allow buyers to make a proposal to take over the Société Nationale Corse Méditerranée.
Because of the company's cash flow, it will be necessary to act quickly to avoid judicial liquidation. Two court-appointed administrators will have to take charge of this observation period, which is also a source of concern for the unions, in terms of its financing.
" This decision opens a new and decisive stage for the future." said the management in a statement. The management of SNCM and Transdev, its main shareholder, are satisfied with the decision of the Commercial Court of Marseille, which is an opportunity for the future of the company.
