Innovation: prototype of a hybrid outboard on foils

Hydros presented the prototype of its HY41 project, a "Fly & Float" motorboat.

Based on an aluminum architecture with retractable foils, the prototype at reduced scale allows to realize the advantages of the concept.

Drawing, positioning of the foils, calculation of the efforts, all the stages of the project were entirely conceived on simulator. The boat can reach 35 knots at cruising speed and 45 knots with the foils fully extended. Sliding at more than one meter above the water, it passes safely in rough wave conditions. With less powerful engines and therefore less volume, its energy consumption is reduced by about 30% while improving comfort and handling.

Flying above the surface of the water, the HY-X provides a unique experience for its passengers, perhaps foreshadowing the future of motorboats.
