The curiosities of the Grand Pavois - Prestigious racing boats

Among the curiosities of the Grand Pavois, let's move on to the racing boats present at the show. Whether they are engaged in upcoming races or have enabled their skipper to win, they are above all majestic boats for some and racing cars for others.

The KVIII, former Kriter VIII, winner of the second Route du Rhum

On pontoon 1, a giant monohull of 23 meters is moored, taking up an impressive length of pontoon. The KVIII is the former Kriter VIII, nicknamed "the Great Cigar", on board which Michel Malinovsky won the second Route du Rhum in 1982. She underwent some refurbishment in La Rochelle last March, before taking the start of the 10th edition of the Route du Rhum, which will begin on November 2. She will be skippered by Wilfrid Clerton from La Rochelle, who recently acquired her.

The Multi50 Royan, a magnificent red trimaran

Its bright red color and its impressive size allow it to attract the eye and to stand out among the mass of other boats present on the show. Built on the plans of the architect Erik Lerouge, the one called "Rayon Vert" at the time was bought in September 2010 by Alain Delhumeau, owner and offshore fisherman since 1976 and an emeritus sailor. Four years later, the trimaran has undergone a particularly careful rejuvenation, orchestrated by Alain and his son Johan. Deck plan, rigging, sails, electronicsâ?¦ Everything has been optimized to be able to take the start of the next Route du Rhum in November.

The Acapella, the "little yellow trimaran that won't die

Acapella is Charlie Capelle's trimaran, aboard which he will set off from the starting line of the Route du Rhum for the 4th time. While learning the ropes in Walter Greene's shipyard in the United States, the creator of the Technologie Marine shipyard met Mike Birch, who won the first edition of the Route du Rhum. They built the A'Capella together, sharing the same passion.

Bilfot, the second yellow A'Capella trimaran in the Route Du Rhum

The Bilfot/Groupe Berto Rhum Class was bought by Jean-Paul Froc in 1999. In 2010, she participated in the 9th edition of the Route du Rhum on board and finished 6th in the Rhum category after 24 days of sailing. Today she has been refurbished in Charlie Capelle's shipyard to participate in this 10th edition and will be supported by the Berto Group. It will be the smallest boat at the start of the famous race.
