New from Wichard: aluminum shackles and an Origin bracelet

Wichard is introducing two new products at Metstrade 2026. The French manufacturer is expanding its line of marine hardware with five models of aluminum shackles for securing ropes and lines. It is also unveiling the Origin bracelet, a stainless steel accessory inspired by its heritage.

Aluminum shackles to increase the number of attachment points

With this new line, Wichard is targeting systems that use textile connections rather than traditional metal shackles. These cleats can serve as anchor points for rope-mounted blocks or friction rings. They can also be used to guide ropes directly, including reefing lines, halyards, or tack lines.

Their design is intended to minimize chafing of the lines and protect the deck surface. Wichard also highlights their compact size and light weight, two features that are highly sought after on racing sailboats, as well as for certain cruising applications.

The product line includes 5 models, each available with either screw or threaded stud fasteners. This variety is designed to accommodate different mounting configurations. The manufacturer also notes applications for lifelines and handrails, provided that the load specifications and installation requirements specific to each model are met.

The suggested price starts at ?48, including tax.

The Origin bracelet features Wichard's iconic pentagon design

The second new product moves from the realm of marine hardware to that of accessories. Following the Onboard bracelet, Wichard introduces Origin, whose centerpiece features the five sides of the historic logo of the company, founded in 1919.

This part is made of 316L stainless steel, a material known for its corrosion resistance. It is paired with a cord manufactured by Gauthier Fils, a company specializing in braiding and based in Vertolaye, about 40 kilometers from the Wichard facility in Thiers.

The bracelet is available in three colors: navy blue, powder pink, and orange. Two sliding knots allow you to adjust its length to fit your wrist.

Priced starting at ?19.50 (including tax) according to the announced suggested retail price, Origin is more of a personal accessory than a navigation device.
