Mille Sabords 2026: Event to Go Ahead Despite Damage from Storm Austen

Storm Austen caused severe damage to the temporary facilities at Mille Sabords in the Port of Crouesty during the night of October 22?23, 2026. After several days of repairs, the organizers have announced that the used boat show will open as scheduled on Thursday, October 29, in Arzon.

Tents torn down and electrical systems damaged

With less than a week to go before its opening, the Mille Sabords took the full brunt of Storm Austen. The gusts damaged the temporary structures that had been set up about ten days earlier on the docks at Le Crouesty, in Morbihan.

Several tents were torn down, metal structures were damaged, and electrical equipment was damaged. Some structures were even swept out to sea. According to the organizers, no one was injured.

The storm also caused damage to boats at Le Crouesty, separate from the boat show facilities. In particular, several sailboats were displaced or capsized by the wind.

A living room restored in just a few days

Starting on Friday, October 23, after the storm had subsided, the Mille Sabords teams began safety and restoration operations. The damaged structures were removed, and work on setting up the facilities resumed.

The Morbihan Ports Authority, the Arzon City Hall, and the fair's service providers took part in the activities.

On Monday, October 26, the organizers announced that the venue was once again ready to welcome exhibitors and visitors. The schedule therefore remains unchanged, with exhibitors setting up on Wednesday, October 28, and the event opening to the public the following day at 9:30 a.m.

More than 500 boats are expected from October 29 to November 1

For its 42nd edition, the Mille Sabords is expected to bring together more than 500 boats?both new and used?on display in the water and on land. Approximately 350 exhibitors, including professionals and private individuals, are expected to attend.

The boat show will occupy 27,000 square meters around the harbor, with nearly 1,000 meters of docks reserved for the boats on display.

Despite the disruptions caused by Austen, visitors will still be able to enjoy the fall used boat show, featuring sailboats, motorboats, and boating equipment.

Practical Information: The Mille Sabords will take place from Thursday, October 29, to Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the Port du Crouesty in Arzon. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.; admission is free.
