Numarine 27XP: volume, autonomy and energy, the challenges of the new model

Turkish shipyard Numarine has just delivered the first example of its new 27XP. This exploration yacht is the successor to an already well-established platform in the Numarine range. The new evolution of this yacht is a combination of increased volumes, energy evolution and offshore cruising.

With the 27XP, Numarine continues to develop its family of exploration yachts for owners who prefer autonomy and long voyages. This new 27-meter model builds on the foundations of the 26XP, while seeking to meet the expectations expressed by owners and captains already using the series.

Why upgrade a proven platform?

The 26XP is one of the shipyard's most popular models, with 30 units announced worldwide. The 27XP is more a continuation than a technical breakthrough.

The stated aim is to increase interior volume, improve exterior spaces and enhance cruising capabilities without upgrading to a much larger unit. This approach is aimed at owners who wish to increase on-board comfort while maintaining a size compatible with a limited crew and controlled operating costs.

The first owner of the 27XP illustrates this logic, as he was already sailing a Numarine 22XP before upgrading to a larger unit.

Habitability designed for long cruises

The first model delivered has a four-cabin configuration. A five-cabin version is also included in the catalog, to cater for different sailing programs.

Designer Can Yalman's work emphasizes the circulation between interior and exterior spaces. Large windows increase the amount of natural light in the main saloon. A sliding glass door connects the saloon directly to the aft cockpit.

The flybridge is one of the focal points of the project. Its large surface area creates a genuine additional living space, a particularly sought-after feature on Mediterranean summer cruises.

Does the hybrid energy system meet current expectations?

One of the main technical evolutions of the 27XP is the arrival of the Mk2 Super Silent Pack developed with Sleipner.

The system is based on a 48-volt electrical architecture combined with a hybrid energy management center. The system integrates a 92.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery bank, 5.6 kW solar generation, shore power and automated consumption management.

The use of higher voltage limits certain energy losses and improves the overall efficiency of on-board equipment. Crews also benefit from reduced noise pollution associated with conventional power generation when the yacht is at anchor.

This development responds to a trend observed in the exploration yacht market, where the quest for energy autonomy and acoustic comfort is becoming increasingly important.

Is autonomy still the main argument for an explorer yacht?

The XP philosophy is based above all on the ability to cover long distances.

The Numarine 27XP is powered by two 560 hp MAN engines. Maximum advertised speed is 13.5 knots, while cruising speed is around 10 knots.

At 8 knots, the shipyard claims a range of 2,200 nautical miles. Such a distance makes it possible to envisage ocean crossings and sailing programs far from port infrastructures, which fully corresponds to the positioning of an explorer yacht.

In fact, the first model is due to operate mainly in the Greek islands and, more broadly, in the Aegean Basin, an area where long stopovers and extended anchorages are frequent.

A buoyant market for exploration yachts under 30 metres

Even before its first public presentation at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026, from September 8 to 13, 2026, the 27XP already has five sales and three additional units under construction.

These figures reflect the market's interest in yachts capable of offering significant autonomy without reaching the dimensions of large vessels over 35 meters.

The 27XP is thus positioned in a segment sought after by experienced yachtsmen: that of an explorer yacht offering more volume and comfort than a smaller unit, while retaining features suited to regular use in the Mediterranean or on more ambitious routes.
