Renovating the Gozzi Apreamare: the refit strategy for the Torre Annunziata site

Apreamare launches a unit dedicated to the renovation of its traditional Gozzi. A specialized worksite serving a heritage fleet. Between know-how, technical adaptation and owner loyalty.

In 2024, the Apreamare shipyard opened a specific division for the renovation of its historic models: the Gozzo Sorrentino . It's a way of responding to a number of current challenges in the nautical sector: boat durability, transmission of maritime heritage and support for owners over time. Here are the main findings of this initiative.

A worksite dedicated to the perpetuation of Gozzi Apreamare

With a 3,000 square metre warehouse adjoining the main Torre Annunziata plant, Apreamare structures a refit activity exclusively reserved for its own units. The choice of specialization allows us to concentrate our skills and ensure consistency between our interventions and the brand's standards. This responds to a growing need for heritage maintenance, particularly for older or more frequently sailed models.

The shipyard offers a complete range of services, including teak deck replacement, bathing platform refurbishment, hull painting, overhaul of technical systems and even interior refurbishment. All work is carried out in-house, guaranteeing continuity in the artisanal approach for which the Gulf of Naples boats are renowned.

A technical offering focused on noble materials

The restoration of teak decks is emblematic of the know-how involved. This type of work requires expertise in wood selection, cutting, fitting and caulking. The refit division also works on hull treatments, in particular re-coating with gelcoat or two-component polyurethane paint, used for its resistance in saline environments.

Interior renovations often involve upholstery, mahogany or ash furniture, and the integration of new systems (LED lighting, cooling units, on-board instrumentation). The work carried out respects the original configuration, while allowing for updates in line with current expectations.

Building owner loyalty and extending service life

With over two thousand units in circulation, the Italian shipyard is emphasizing a long-term customer relations strategy. The stated aim is to maintain units in perfect sailing condition for several decades, including those built in the 1990s or 2000s. It's a response to the expectations of owners who want to preserve the value of a boat with a strong identity.

This strategy also aims to reduce the rate of renewal of new boats, in favor of sustainable support for existing hulls. An approach in line with environmental concerns and changes in the superyacht sector.

Passing on a Mediterranean naval heritage

The Apreamare shipyard is part of a long tradition of craftsmanship in the Bay of Naples. Heirs to know-how dating back to 1849, the carpenters and technicians at the Sorrento site perpetuate an approach where semi-artisanal construction coexists with modern tools. The Gozzo, a fishing boat that has become a symbol of coastal cruising, is treated here as a heritage object.

The refit work thus becomes a vector of transmission: that of classic lines, marine balance, the relationship with wood and the sea. Through its renovations, the shipyard preserves a floating memory.

Positioning reserved for Apreamare units

Unlike other shipyards, which are open to all types of boats, the Apreamare Refit unit is dedicated solely to units built in-house. This guarantees an intervention perfectly adapted to the initial construction. This choice excludes the possibility of opening up to a general refit activity, but reinforces the coherence of the industrial project and strengthens attachment to the brand.
