Test / Evo R+: an 18-meter yacht with sleek, sporty styling for Mediterranean cruising

Evo Yachts has unveiled the Evo R+, a sleek 18-meter yacht. This model combines a sporty design with a semi-enclosed main deck and an innovative aft platform, offering great versatility. However, this unit with its modern, aggressive silhouette suffers from a finish well below class standards.

Evo Yachts recently introduced the Evo R+, an 18-meter yacht with surprising style and modularity. This model stands out for its sleek, sporty design, conceived for owners wishing to enjoy short cruises or day trips.

Design and comfort

The black aluminum roof enhances the appeal of a profile that echoes sports car design. The sleek cockpit is completely surrounded by picture windows offering 360-degree views and natural ventilation. A day area with a versatile saloon, well-equipped galley and dining table completes the main deck, ideal for enjoying total conviviality at any time of day and in any weather.

A layout designed for conviviality and well-being on board

Inside, the Evo R+ is all about space and refinement. The main deck, entirely enclosed by bay windows, houses a functional and elegant living area. The cockpit, equipped with modern instrumentation, is positioned to maximize visibility while ensuring precise control of the yacht. A modular saloon, fully-equipped galley and dining area complete this level, allowing passengers to enjoy the comforts of aboard whatever the weather conditions.

A rear platform designed for water sports

One of the Evo R+'s major assets is its innovative rear platform, designed to facilitate nautical activities. It allows rapid launching of tenders or a jet-ski, and provides simplified access to the sea thanks to a hydraulic lowering system. This design optimizes the passenger experience by offering a versatile space dedicated to leisure and relaxation.

On either side of the cockpit, the bulwarks can be extended to increase the available surface area, a concept already explored by Evo Yachts on other models. This modularity enhances user-friendliness by creating a real living space on the water, ideal for relaxing at anchor.

The foredeck is occupied by a huge sundeck. It's uncluttered and pleasant to anchor, but sailing is out of the question due to the absence of round hands, and a low bulwark that makes moving around absolutely unsafe.

The lower deck houses three comfortable cabins. The owner's suite, located forward, boasts generous space with a central bed and en-suite bathroom. The two guest cabins aft are also well appointed. An independently accessible crew cabin is also located on this level, ensuring smooth management of onboard operations.

Marine performance for fast cruising

Beneath its elegant allure, the Evo R+ hides first-rate marine performance. Powered by two Volvo Penta IPS 950 engines, this yacht reaches a top speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of around 27 knots. This choice of engine, combined with an optimized hull, ensures smooth, controlled sailing in coastal waters and on the high seas.

The IPS propulsion system ensures enhanced maneuverability, making it easier to move around in port and reducing fuel consumption. This technical configuration meets the expectations of yachtsmen looking for both high-performance speed and a comfortable ride.

While its modern, uncluttered styling will not leave fans of the genre indifferent, this transalpine unit suffers from a level of finish far removed from the standards of the category.
