The Grand-Prix Motonautique de Normandie took place on June 1 and 2, 2024, in Poses. Between fierce competition, technological innovations and capricious weather, the event confirmed its key role in the French motonautical calendar.

An intense competition despite the weather

The Grand-Prix Motonautique de Normandie, held on June 1 and 2, 2024 in Poses, was marked by capricious weather. However, this didn't stop the event, organized by Rouen Inshore Racing (R.I.R.) and supported by Mercury Marine France, from keeping up the suspense and thrills.

Mercury Racing: innovation and performance

Mercury Marine France took the opportunity to promote its new 60 APX engine, specially developed for F4 and S3 racing. Pierre Lambert of Team Torpilleurs Racing highlighted the improvements over the previous version, the 60 Formula Race, in terms of power and top speed, peaking at 114 km/h.

A variety of spectacular events

Spectators were treated to several types of event: the F4 Grand Prix with time trials, the S3 endurance race, and the Match Race. Despite the inclement weather, the Mercury 60 hp outboard engines proved their reliability and performance throughout the races.

Pilot feedback

The participants shared their impressions of the weekend. Michael Dragutin of Team VSI Racing recalled a dazzling start followed by a few incidents, while Pierre Lambert spoke of the technical nature of the race course, complicated by gusty winds.

Strict controls and safety

Technical stewards from the French Motonautical Federation carried out rigorous checks on boats and riders to ensure compliance with safety standards. These checks included equipment inspections and engine weight and conformity checks.

Mercury Marine: a renewed commitment

Erwan Beros, head of Mercury Marine France's technical department, and Siegfried Gimonneau, sales manager, expressed their satisfaction with the brand's involvement in the competition. They also thanked the teams, organizers and public for their active participation.

Next steps: international competitions

The performances seen in Poses are promising for future international competitions. Pierre Lambert and the other competitors are preparing for the world championship rounds in Finland, Lithuania and Italy, scheduled for August and September 2024.
