In this 4th and final instalment of our review, we present the Sun Odyssey 350's main price points and its positioning in relation to the competition.

A trial version with many options

The basic version of the Sun Odyssey 350 is priced at ?176,400 incl. VAT.

Our test model was a version with a large number of options:

  • performance" pack, which includes a set of sails in DCX triradial, a standing rigging in dynema, and composite steering wheels
  • downwind" package with additional winch, asymmetric and delphinière
  • préférence" interior finish
  • ... not to mention a whole host of optional extras, such as mooring lines, mooring system, iro-deck cockpit floor and bow thruster

With this long list of options, some of which seem indispensable, the Sun Odyssey 350 comes in at ?252,780 incl. VAT.

Let's take a look at how the competing yards stack up.

The Beneteau Oceanis 34.1

The Sun Odyssey 350's main competitor is also its cousin. Launched in 2022, the Oceanis 34.1 has been a great success. Despite its slightly more conventional styling, the basic version is priced at ?155,000 inc. VAT, and is available with an equivalent level of equipment for around ?210,000 inc.

Le Dufour 37

Behind this marketing-influenced name, this unit from the Charente shipyard is actually a 33-footer. While its performance under sail will certainly be inferior to that of the Sun Odyssey 350, it nevertheless offers considerable interior space. The basic version is priced at ?202,800 incl. VAT, rising to almost ?312,000 incl. VAT with options.

Maxus 35

This newcomer to this highly competitive segment arrives on the market with a number of differentiating arguments. With its modern lines and extensive fittings and equipment, Northman's flagship has a lot going for it, including its price. The basic version is available from Poland at ?160,500 incl. VAT, and ready to sail, it will set you back ?217,000 incl. VAT.

The Bavaria 34

This unit produced by the German yard has undergone several updates since its launch in 2012. But the result is a very classic yacht compared to the competition. But its longevity on the market shows when you sign the quotation: the basic version is priced at ?143,000 incl. VAT, and comes in at less than ?200,000 incl. VAT with a long list of options, making it the best-positioned competitor in terms of budget.
