Arksen takes on the luxury RIB market
The Arksen shipyard was founded in 2020. Based in England, it aims to build large expedition yachts - the Explorer range - from 65 to 85 feet. But it was with his Adventure models, designed in collaboration with XO Boats, that he made his name .
The manufacturer is now tackling the RIB market with a series of 5 models called Discovery. These open adventure boats range in size from 6 to 12 m. The Arksen 8 will be unveiled in spring 2024.
The first 8 m model is available in two versions
This first model - undoubtedly 8 m long, given its name - has a 2.9 m beam. It offers a platform presented as stable, and a deck layout for family leisure activities. It is also available in a semi-custom Explorer version on the same deep-V hulls, which can be sold as one-offs for special projects or superyacht annexes. For the shipyard, the Arksen 8 redefines the concept of the Grand Tourer RIB.
Both Arksen models share the same hydrodynamic hull design, which should guarantee a safe and dynamic riding experience. The deep-V hull, with a 24° angle, is combined with spray rails and a brion that can easily pass through rough seas.
The Arksen 8 is designed for up to 500 hp outboard power, with single- or twin-engine options. The 495-liter fuel tank should provide ample range for extended cruising.
The asymmetrical deck layout features a large console offset to starboard, offering protection from the elements. It also features a space below deck for changing in complete privacy. Rigid fiberglass coachroof options are available, with the possibility of installing a retractable canvas bimini and roof rails for equipment storage.
Top-of-the-range pricing for a luxury positioning
Arksen 8 models are under construction, the first with a 350 hp engine, giving it a top speed of 45 to 50 knots, as well as a range of 350 miles at a cruising speed of 28 knots. With a 300 hp outboard version and a full range of standard equipment, the Arksen 8 will be sold at ?205,080 ex VAT, a top-of-the-range price, in line with the shipyard's desired positioning for its range. Other models will be unveiled in 2024.
