Special Edition / L'Atelier du semi-rigide : A real specialist for float changes

You can give your RIB a new lease of life by changing its float. But you have to do it properly, by calling in an experienced professional. Atelier du semi-rigide has the know-how to do just that.

A real understanding of RIBs

Over the years, the RIB workshop has built up real expertise in these boats, which now make up a significant proportion of all motorized pleasure craft. While many boats require maintenance of their floats, either for repairs or replacement, the company's technicians can assist boaters in the maintenance of their boats, with a knowledge of the specific features of these boats, both in terms of materials and bonding.

Clear pricing

When refitting a RIB, replacing the float can give it a new lease of life. However, it's important to be clear about the budget in a sometimes opaque market, explains Servan Airault, founder of l'atelier du semi-rigide, who sums up his policy: "We offer a turnkey solution, in which you can easily find out the price of the float simply from the size of the boat, with a grid available on the site. The price is all-inclusive, and for PVC includes basic options such as slides, grips or davits. To guarantee low prices, options are more limited on hypalon floats."

PVC floats start at ?2,112 inc. VAT for RIBs 3.45 to 3.84 m long, rising to ?10,380 inc. VAT for 12-meter boats. Hypalon floats range from ?4,750 to ?18,270 incl. VAT. The RIB workshop works with Orca and Valmex for the supply of its fabrics.

Real support for yachtsmen

To guarantee quality of service, the Atelier du semi-rigide has set up a local operation. Customers drop off their boats at a local partner. L'Atelier du semi-rigide's teams then take it back by road to its workshops in Sète, where the old float is removed. Measurements are taken and the boat inspected. If necessary, the connecting parts are rebuilt and all gluing is carried out according to the rules of the trade, after careful preparation. Customer support is at the heart of our service, even going so far as to advise yachtsmen on the purchase of second-hand boats.
