Moonflower 72, a hybrid superyacht with a huge bathing platform

The superyacht Moonflower 72, first announced in May 2022, is currently under construction in Venice at the Wider yard. New renderings of the project by Nauta Design have been unveiled and feature clean lines with an innovative beach club layout.

Clean design with connections between interior and exterior

The Moonflower 72 is a superyacht designed by the Names architectural firm. Its exterior and interior design was entrusted to Nauta Design, which unveils new visuals of the 72-meter-long yacht. Constructed of steel and aluminum, the yacht has a clean, no-frills design with balanced proportions, harmonious connections between interior and exterior and expansive use of glass that adds lightness, a hallmark of Nauta Design.

A major study was conducted on the design of the profile and exterior spaces. At first glance, the design may appear severe, but its aggressive longitudinal planes are combined with organic contours, softened corners with a chamfer and balanced volumes.

An electric propulsion system

The Moonflower 72 will be equipped with the latest generation of the Wider series hybrid propulsion system. This consists of two variable speed generators supplied by MAN Energy Solutions of 1,860 kW each and a sodium-nickel battery bank of about 1 MW from FZSoNick. In addition, great attention has been paid to recovering energy dispersed as heat from the electric propulsion system, as well as optimizing the operation of on-board equipment to increase efficiency.

The Island, a bathing platform for water recreation

One of the highlights of the design is the patented "The Island" feature, an extendable beach club aft deck with folding bulwark decks positioned on all three sides of the transom. When extended, these platforms provide 117 square meters of connected space to enjoy contact with the sea. The first Moonflower 72 is scheduled for delivery in 2025.
