Discovery / Bali Catsmart: comfort and space on the latest Bali Catamarans

At 38 feet, the Catsmart is the smallest of Bali's catamarans. Yet its optimal use of space ensures excellent habitability. Here's a look at the Bali Catspace's little brother, from which it takes some of its innovations.

Exceptional habitability for a 38-footer

The Catsmart takes up the concept that made Bali famous, namely a full deck between the hulls. The surface is exploited to the maximum, from the bows to the skirts, thus offering a beautiful ability to this 12.08 m catamaran.

Another innovation initiated by Bali, the cockpit is separated from the saloon by a large tilting door that fits perfectly into the roof when open. The saloon, the kitchen and the cockpit are all in one space, improving conviviality and circulation.

This feeling of space is accentuated by the fully sliding side bays.

Several versions of layouts

In order to meet the needs of the rental market, the Catsmart can be fitted out in 3 or 4 cabin versions, with a bathroom in each hull.

Wishing to offer an alternative to the models only dedicated to chartering, the Catsmart can also be fitted out in an owner's version, with two double cabins. The whole boat is bathed in natural light thanks to the numerous openings in the hulls.

The kitchen occupies the entire width of the saloon, and offers a superb work surface. Plenty of storage space, as well as a fridge and a freezer, confirm the program of this cruising catamaran.

A small step breaks the level between the saloon and the kitchen, but it should be quickly assimilated in the movements of the crew.

On the port side, the cockpit is occupied by the saloon table which seats eight guests. It faces a large bench seat, the end of which serves as a seat for the small chart table.

An innovative bridge plan

At the rear, the cockpit is closed by an island with a three-seat bench and a cabinet housing the plancha.

Due to the full bypass of the Catsmart, the skirts are consequently quite short and will not be able to be occupied by several people.

The two steering stations are set back on the hulls, and are equipped with a folding seat. The seat must be raised to access the engine hold, which offers a good volume.

All the maneuvers are done at the helmsman's level. Under sail, tacking will be made easier by the self-tacking solent, and a small bowsprit will allow downwind sails.

At the front, the deck is occupied by a very convivial deck saloon, as well as a huge sunbathing area. The whole can be protected by a removable awning easy to install.

Performance under sail has been optimized by lowering the boom, allowing for more mainsail area. The absence of a Fly in the design has allowed this optimization, and also gives the Catsmart a sleeker look.

Pricing and competition

The Bali Catsmart joins the market of small livable catamarans, such as the C-Cat 37 or the Excess 11, but stands out for its superior habitability, as well as its very attractive launch price of around 325,450 euros (excluding VAT).
