A boat that sails faster
Super Lauwersmeer is a Dutch shipyard that has been producing 13 and 14.30 m steel displacement boats for inland navigation for over 50 years. The yard, based in Noardburgum, the Netherlands, builds about 5 boats per year. In response to customer demand for a faster boat capable of reaching 16 knots, the yard set about designing a new model. In collaboration with architect Arnold de Ruyter and Van Oossanen for the hull, Louis and Bastiaan Jousma, who have been at the helm of the yard since 1969, developed the largest model ever produced, the SLX 54.

A new semi-planing hull
Still built in steel, this 17.05 m long flybridge yacht has a more Mediterranean design, an inverted bow and a brand new chine hull. The semi-planing hull was developed to sail faster, without the need for a large engine. It remains efficient and comfortable at all speeds between 5 and 15 knots.

A crossover boat
With a design totally different from the rest of the range, the SLX54 is a kind of crossover boat, as the X in the boat's name indicates. This model combines the advantages of an enclosed boat, an open cockpit and a flybridge. In keeping with the shipyard's DNA, it offers a layout as comfortable as that of a house. All this through an innovative layout on several levels.

An innovative layout on several levels
At the stern, the huge bathing platform can be left open to the water or fully protected by a high balcony. Direct access to the living area of the boat through curved sliding glass doors. A staircase on the port side allows you to climb onto the flybridge, protected by a reversible windshield and a hydraulic T-Top with sunroof. The aft is occupied by a very large sunbathing bench, while the bow offers an outside steering position on the port side with a wetbar behind and a double bench on starboard. A central companionway gives direct access to the interior cockpit, also accessible from the saloon and located on an intermediate level.

The flybridge also provides access to the foredeck via wide side decks. This gives access to a second sunbathing area for two people, in which three central deck panels bring light into the main cabin.

A main deck separated into two living areas
From the wheelhouse, where there is a raised U-shaped saloon on the port side and a comfortable steering position with two large screens and a chair for two, there is access either to the front of the main deck, where the cabins are located, via a companionway, or to the rear of the main deck, where the living area is located, via another companionway. This arrangement allows the sleeping area to be separated from the main area.

The forward area hosts two cabins and two bathrooms. The guest or children's cabin on the port side has two separate beds, a dressing room and a bathroom with sink and shower. The main cabin at the front has a very high headroom and light thanks to the deck panels and zenithal porthole.

On the stern, the beautiful living area is also arranged on several levels. On the port side of the companionway is the fully equipped L-shaped galley, on the bow is the elevated sitting area with its L-shaped coffee table and sofa, and on the starboard side is the dining area with a large table.

A boat to live aboard
The layout is well thought out, with high quality materials and many well thought out details. In addition to the "home-like" equipment, the large tanks allow for a long life on board.

Three engine options
Three engine options are offered on the SLX54, which allow it to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots, unlike the other models in the range, which are set at 8 knots. For maximum power, 2x440 Yanmar horsepower are installed. Two other options of 2x270 horsepower and 2x175 horsepower are offered for maximum speeds of 12 and 10 knots.
