Combine a caravan and a catamaran
Caracat is a German company born in 2019. In partnership with Schneider Caravaning's, which has 50 years of experience in the field of caravans, the company has developed a concept of caravan with retractable floats. Two different patents have been filed for the design and industrialization. Their principle is to give the possibility to go from the land to the sea quickly, while keeping the same comfort. The hull is built in fiberglass, on which is grafted a car superstructure. The whole is towed on a trailer to a slipway, to transform the caravan into a boat.

Retractable floats
The mechanical system ensures both the stability of the boat by allowing the floats to expand to a span of 3.70 m, while remaining at 2.50 m on the road, thus allowing towing at road gauge. The floats are thus extended by 1.20 m to ensure comfort and safety on the water. If the shipyard indicates that it is possible to navigate on the sea in a Caracat, navigation on inland waters will be much more recommended.

Three models with a fixed layout
In total, three models are present in the range and can accommodate 4 to 6 people:
- Caracat 66 of 6.60 m
- Caracat 76 of 7.60 m
- Caracat 86 of 8.60 m
Each model has a fixed layout with a kitchen on the front and a cabin on the back with a balcony. A pop-up tent can be placed on the roof to accommodate more people to sleep. The floor is made of teak and the laminated glass windows are thermo-regulated.

Preferred electric version
Each boat can be equipped with solar panels and a 15 horsepower electric motor with a 1300 watt lithium battery pack. Versions with an 8 to 15 horsepower combustion engine are also available, as well as an inboard diesel engine up to 25 horsepower.
