A 50 kW inboard electric motor
The Capoforte SQ240i is the latest model from the Italian shipyard Capoforte, but more importantly, the first model offered with electric propulsion. Discovered in Genoa in September 2020 with a 3.7 kW Yamaha Harmo outboard electric motor, the shipyard is now offering it with a new, more powerful motorization. It is a 50 kW inboard shaft motor developed by the German company Molabo, which weighs 45 kg. Mastervolt batteries of 36 kWh as standard, or 48 kWh and 60 kWh as an option, are installed under the sunbathing area and there are four of them.
4 hours of autonomy at 6.5 knots
After a sea trial with the Molabo Iscad V50 and four 200 ampere/hour batteries and 5 people on board, the shipyard gave us some data. At the maximum speed of the boat is 15 knots for a consumption of 45 kW and an autonomy of 45 minutes. At 6.5 knots, the consumption goes down to 8 kW for an autonomy of 4 hours.
A design specifically designed for electric propulsion
In terms of design, the Capoforte SQ240i is the result of a brand new design with special electric propulsion. This open hull, approved in category C for 10 people, is 7.38 m long and 2.46 m wide, with a total weight of 1065 kg.
A flexible layout
The straight bow and chine hull is surmounted by a rounded prow that provides a beautiful interior space. On deck, the layout is flexible. A sundeck overhangs the rear platform. The common tilting backrest is also used for the pilot's bench, on the other side of the sundeck.
The central cockpit should offer a comfortable driving position and is equipped with a storage compartment and handrails. The long front deck has a very large U-shaped bench seat. An armchair is positioned at the front of the console with a backrest and a drawer refrigerator underneath. Numerous storage compartments are positioned in the floor.
A top-of-the-range rate
The standard budget is rather high-end with a price excluding VAT of 131,000 euros, our model exposed with its options is 162,386 euros.
