Combine 2 outdoor passions
Drive and navigate. This is the promise of the Gladius from Hotomobil. The company, which specializes in the manufacture of fiberglass for recreational vehicles, was present at the Boot Düsseldorf to present its latest project. With a single fiberglass living cell, it is possible to combine vacations on land and at sea, in perfect autonomy.
A pickup truck cell or a boat cabin
Hotomobil has designed a composite cabin with all the usual functionalities sought after by both a yachtsman and an itinerant vacationer on land. You can cook with a sink and an oven, eat around a table, wash in a shower and rest with the necessary beds. A fresh water tank and a black water tank complete the facilities offered.

A specially designed 8 m boat
This living cell, derived from Hotomobil's Gladiator models, is designed for pick-up trucks and is equipped with tilting side legs. Once in the harbor, you just have to lift the cell on its 4 legs to make it stand on its own.
The pickup can then slide under the cell an open hull specially designed by Hotomobil and its partners. Slowly descending along the legs, the cabin slides into the specially designed geometry of the deck of this 8-meter motorboat to become the cabin.

The hull, motorized in outboard, can also be used as a dayboat, without cabin.
From concept to reality
For the moment, although models of the boat exist, no model has yet been produced. By exploiting two hobbies that have more than seduced in recent years, the Gladius concept could nevertheless find its customers. It remains to be seen what the price will be, which is not yet public. The living cell itself is sold between 20,000 and 30,000 euros.
