A sailing boat with traditional charm
Strolling through the aisles of the Boot Düsseldorf, the Tide 36 catches the eye with its slightly outdated look. Amidst the massive, wide-open transoms, the latest yacht from the MFH shipyard, based in Emden on the German-Dutch border, stands out, with no bathing platform or outdoor kitchen! A low roof and elegant oval portholes with mirror-polished stainless steel frames complete a classically elegant profile.
The representatives of the maintenance yard, whose 1st model of new boat, assume it, they did not want a sailboat with a big c... "Here, we prioritize sailing more than outdoor comfort or access to water" . With the climate of the North Sea, we can understand it!
Custom made boats
MFH does not aim at the mass production and proposes a highly customizable boat. If the green of the hull of the Tide 36 number 1 does not please him, the customer will be able to choose another tone, but also to make evolve the frame of arrangement or the type of appendix, between fixed or retractable keel.
At 10.70 meters long, the Tide 36 is 3 meters wide and has a standard draft of 1.90 meters. With a displacement of 3500 kg, it has all the necessary comfort and its 51 m2 of sail area will allow it to sail comfortably upwind.
Tips and beautiful finishes
As we embark, we immediately notice the quality of the finish. From the handrails to the deck hatches and the winches, the steelwork gleams. The deep cockpit will be safe when you are on the water and the old-fashioned equipment in the coamings is always useful.
The mainsail carriage, which can be removed without tools by means of two nuts, frees up space at anchor.
Once inside the saloon, we discover a cosy atmosphere, where we can easily project ourselves in a cold and wet winter anchorage. Beautiful wooden fittings and elegant old-fashioned lights give warmth to the different spaces.
There is an L-shaped galley immediately to starboard, with oven and gas stove, while to port is the bathroom. A nice owner's cabin on the bow has an armchair corner and the starboard aft offers a second double berth. In the center of the boat, the saloon will easily welcome the neighbors on two large benches.
Here is a successful neo-classic, whose quality has a price. The Tide 36 is offered at a base price of 375,000 euros and around 500,000 euros for the version visited.
