Equipment Weekly / Sailboat fittings, 3 new features to improve maneuvers

When you sail, you like to think, to improve your maneuvers. This involves optimizing the deck plan, by adapting the fittings. This week, the equipment section highlights 3 new products.

Nodus, a textile opening pulley

Nodus uses an in-house developed opening block and fits its T-Close shackle. This makes handling of the unit fast, light and takes up very little space on the deck. This block is available in 3 sizes, with sheaves of 20, 30 or 40 mm. Prices start at 37,08 euros (VAT included).

Karver: KJSK trinquette kit

Built on the basis of the KJSK15 blocker, this kit allows the installation of a 3:1 hoist under a releasable forestay. It is attached to the deck by a lashing on a simple bridge. Thus, there is no need to have the blocker attached to the deck, and the best part is that when it is time to stow it, there is nothing left in place. Compact, the tack is not high above the deck. This 3-jaw blocker is capable of supporting 1.56 tons. The bracket is available at 1620 euros (all taxes included).

Wichard : Textile opening pulley for very high loads

Capable of supporting 9 and 15 tons, the new Wichard opening pulleys are strong. Installation is quick, with a Dyneema loop secured by a Velcro strap. The anodized aluminum flanges protect the sheave, made of the same material. These blocks can be installed to reel in a halyard or even at the foot of the mast. The 9 ton pulley for a 24 mm rope is at 1500 euros, while the 15 ton pulley for a 32 mm rope is at 2700 euros TTC.
