Orbit Winches by Ronstan, a small revolution in deck fittings

Ronstan launches an innovative range of winches, with a self-tailing system that can be used for both tucking and topping. The fruit of all the know-how acquired by the rigging specialist.

Reference winches

Ronstan Orbit Winchesİ are the new benchmark in high-performance aluminum winches. A combination of new design and proven manufacturing expertise, Orbitİ winches are lighter and lower in rope entry height than winches on the market. Remarkably easy to maintain, they require no tools for disassembly or servicing. The machined aluminum headstocks feature the same Power Ribs? as Andersen's stainless steel winches, which many sailors will recognize for their impressive rope hold, smooth control and minimal tip wear.

Orbit Winchİ 30QT and above feature the unique, patented QuickTrimİ self-tailing system.

What is QuickTrimİ?

This innovation allows sailors to easily and safely release rope tension for sail trimming without removing the winch crank or self-tailing rope

How does QuickTrimİ work?

A small counter-clockwise rotation of the self-tailing top allows the self-tailing to turn underneath like a sheave when the rope is released, with secure grip and control assured by the smooth surface of the headstock and Power Ribsİ.

Let the self tailing top snap back into place and the rope will lock again

The Orbit Winchİ story

While we have laid the foundations for the creation of this new range of aluminum winches, Ronstan has been able to draw on years of experience in Andersen winch manufacturing at our own factory in Denmark. This experience is invaluable in setting the standard for reliability, efficiency and customer satisfaction. For everything else, the new winches have been developed from the ground up, with different priorities for selecting materials such as weight optimization, internal and external dimensions, power and gear ratios, manufacturing process, finish and, of course, performance.

When the Orbit Winchİ project began to take shape, research and development initially focused on three winch sizes for boats up to around 12 m, where Ronstan is renowned for its comprehensive and competitive range of deck fittings.

Within a year, the first prototypes had begun to be manufactured and went through a battery of tests that identified improvements, so that in the second year of the project, we were able to start testing on the water at various locations in Australia and Europe.

Attention then turned to the finer details of tooling and manufacturing, and the results are remarkable.

We're proud to present our new aluminum winch range with race-ready performance, impressive rope grip, ease of disassembly without tools and the introduction of the unique, patented QuickTrimİ innovation.
