Ronstan, the global benchmark in deck fittings

Australian manufacturer Ronstan has been producing deck hardware since 1953. With the acquisition of Frederiksen and Andersen, Ronstan now offers a complete range of hardware for all types of yachts, from light sailors to megayachts. Here's the story of a company that's all about people.

Ronstan is all about people. You only have to look at the longevity of our managers in key positions to understand the importance of people in this company. Here, we put our trust in people and they stay with us.

Ron + Stan = Ronstan

The Ronstan story began in 1953, when Ron Allat and Stan Lenepveu - hence the company's name - were looking for fittings for the sailboat they were racing in Melbourne, Australia. They decided to create a wooden sailboat yard, and above all to design stainless steel fittings. Production, initially in solid wood and later in plywood, lasted until 1960. At the same time, the design office continued to manufacture fittings.

The arrival of fiberglass prompted Ronstan to focus on fittings, and abandon sailboat building.

Buyouts for growth

The arrival of a number of key figures in the company in the 1990s enabled it to grow worldwide, with a strong presence in the United States. But it was above all through acquisitions that Ronstan expanded its field of action. In 2001, the company acquired Frederiksen of Denmark, a leading manufacturer of fittings for yachts over 40 feet. Then, in 2010, it acquired Andersen, Frederiksen's neighbor and manufacturer of high-quality stainless steel winches.

Victory for Australia II

In addition to these takeovers, Ronstan shines in competition. The 12 m JI Australia II, which managed to steal the America's Cup from the Americans in 1983, was entirely fitted out by Ronstan. Ronstan products are still used today by many sailors, sailboats, large shipyards and prototypes.
