Ocean Fifty, the helm of a trimaran open to candidate skippers

Viabilis, a land developer and property developer, is announcing an Ocean Fifty project with the Route du Rhum 2026 in its sights. While the boat has already been chosen, a call for candidates has been launched to find the skipper.

A new project Ocean Fifty

Already present in the Route du Rhum 2022 as an official partner of the event, but also alongside Arnaud Pennarun on Pen Duick III in the Rhum Mono category, Viabilis is aiming for the Route du Rhum 2026 with a new project. The land developer and property developer has just announced the launch of a program in Ocean Fifty. It is a 2017 VPLP design, which will probably be Leyton, as it is the only trimaran of this generation for sale. The other two boats for sale are Sébastien Rogues' Primonial and Eric Péron's Komilfo, both of 2009 generation.

The sports project will be entrusted to BE Racing, the Burton/Escoffier team. The Ocean Fifty will join the Figaro MyAllEnergy.com and the IMOCA Bureau Vallée.

A call for candidates to find the future skipper of the boat

It is through a call for applications that the sponsor will find the future skipper of its boat. From now until January 30, 2023, each candidate for the next four years of racing should send a nautical and professional CV and a letter of motivation to: candidature@viabilisoceans.com.

The name of the successful sailor will be announced in February 2023.

A complete Ocean Fifty class

With 8 starters in the Route du Rhum 2022, a record for the class, the square trimarans are attracting more and more skippers, although it limits the number of members to 10. A limit already reached since two new boats are under construction: a new Primonial for Sébastien Rogues and a new boat for Fabrice Cahierc, who had already launched the construction of Koesio, under the colors of Réalités.

With Leyton now under new colors, two older generation trimarans are still looking for their new owners.
