French Kite & Wing Championship, a grand premiere in Leucate
250 riders are registered for the French Wingfoil and Kiteboard Championships in Leucate. The opening ceremony took place on October 21, 2024. For the French Championship for Young Riders section, riders aged between 12 and 20 will be competing this week for the kitefoil, kite freestyle and first-ever wingfoil race-slalom and freestyle titles.
The Open category races started on 22/10, while the Kitefoil and Wingfoil Race Open races will start on Friday and finish on Sunday 27 October. The 2nd day of racing saw Orane Ceris (ACPV Nouméa) take the first title of French Wingfoil Champion with her BackFlip at 7.37 points. In the Espoirs Women's category, Phoebe Rocher (ASPTT Noumea Glisse) won the Champion de France Espoirs title over Ella Nowodzinski and Nina Delueil. In Kite Freestyle Espoirs, ASPTT Nouméa Glisse took both titles! In the men's category, Antoine Ollivier put on a show yesterday, joining Phoebe Rocher on the top step of the podium after a superb heat at 27.9 points, ahead of Eliott Panet, Nathan Texier and Baptiste Jacquemain. In kitefoil, Guadeloupe's Sasha Lethuilier took the title of French Champion, winning 9 of the 13 races. Lysa Caval from Hyères won the title of European Youth Champion. Nell de Jaham wins her 2nd French Kitefoil Espoirs title.
On October 24, Sacha Pallier won the first Coupe de France Minimes Wingfoil with 8 of the 10 races.

Ocean Fifty Solidaires en Peloton capsizes
While Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, Axelle Pilllain and Laurent Gourmelon were escorting the Ocean Fifty towards Saint-Malo, after the last Act in Sainte-Maxime, the crew had to be rescued by Spanish rescue services. After rounding the Strait of Gibraltar, the trimaran capsized 6 miles off the coast. The boat is currently being towed towards La Barbate, and no serious injuries have been reported. The capsize occurred as the crew rounded the Strait of Gibraltar, the trimaran capsized 6 miles from the coast and was unfurling the J1 to furl the gennaker. The wind undoubtedly picked up too quickly, causing the boat to capsize.
11 teams present for SailGP season opener in Dubai
SailGP has revealed that its largest F50 fleet will be on the start line in Dubai, with 11 teams - including two new nations - set to compete in the season-opening event, the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix presented by P&O Marinas, on November 23 and 24, 2024. New Zealand and France will take part in the 2025 Season, alongside two new national teams. The 12th F50 under development will be awarded to the French team. It will not race in Dubai, but will be present for the season launch. The project for a new Italian team has now been confirmed, and the official announcement - including the list of athletes - should not be long in coming. The teams taking part in the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix are Spain, New Zealand, Australia, ROCKWOOL Denmark, Emirates GBR, USA, Switzerland, Canada, Germany, Mubadala Brazil and Italy.

Registration opens for Foiling Week Pensacola 2025
With four months to go, registration is now open for Foiling Week Pensacola 2025, the multi-class "World Sailing Special Event" to be held in Florida from February 24 to March 2, 2025. The competition is open to Moth, WASZP, A-Class Catamaran, BirdyFish and Nacra 15 FCS. Other boards, monohulls and foiling multihulls will be announced shortly.
Middle Sea Race, the winners take shape
Huang-Seng Lee's Scallywag 100 (HKG) crossed the finish line of the Rolex Middle Sea Race 2024 at 09:43:29 CEST on Tuesday, October 22, taking monohull line honors in an elapsed time of two days, 21 hours, 33 minutes and 29 seconds. He wins the 45th Rolex Middle Sea Race. Other class winners are now known in IRC 1 to 4. The provisional class winners under IRC time correction are as follows: IRC 1 Balthasar, IRC 2 Red Bandit, IRC 3 Long Courrier and IRC 4 Elusive 2.

The FFVoile renews its partnership with Yamaha Marine for the 2028 Olympic Games
The French Sailing Federation and Yamaha Marine extend their partnership to 2028. After the Olympic Games in Rio, Tokyo and Paris, the Japanese engine manufacturer's French division will accompany the French Team to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Time for the French Extreme Slalom Championship
From October 28 to November 1, 110 funboarders aged 12 to 20 will meet in Dunkirk to compete in the Championnat de France Jeunes Slalom 2024. They will be divided into 6 categories: Minimes girls and boys, Espoirs girls and boys and F42 girls and boys.
Sébastien Rogues, Primonial, Ocean Fifty Series Champion
Act 5 of the Ocean Fifty Championship in Sainte-Maxime was won by Fabrice Cahierc (Réalités). This victory turned the overall ranking upside down, as Cahierc moved up to 3rd place, a position previously held by Baptiste Hulin (Viabilis Oceans). Sébastien Rogues (Primonial) is the unsurprising winner of the 1st Oceans Fifty Series Championship. At the helm of one of the most recent multihulls in the fleet, he was consistent throughout, winning 3 of the 5 events. Erwan Le Roux (Koesio) takes second place, having been on every Acts podium this season.

Vendée Globe village inaugurated
On October 19, the Vendée Globe village was inaugurated at 9am by Alain Leboeuf, President of the Vendée Globe and the Vendée Departmental Council, and the French Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau. Present for the occasion were the 40 skippers, as well as Patricia Brochard, co-president of Sodebo, Yannick Moreau, mayor of Les Sables-d'Olonne and president of Les Sables d'Olonne Agglomération, and Isabelle Leroy, vice-president of the Pays de la Loire region. From now on, the public can enjoy the 30,000 m2 departure village, which will remain open until November 10.
