Here is a novel in which we feel good. A text that exudes well-being, a positive attitude. In a small fictional port on the Mediterranean coast, a Breton man disembarks from nowhere aboard his sailboat. After having taken his quarters in the marina, he will discover the regulars of the site. And little by little, simply, but very effectively, he will revolutionize the daily life of these sailors.
Then follows the discovery and the portraits of these boaters who all have the charm of being simple and normal. If the strong character of the Breton is a bit different, the other participants are all simple people, with whom the reader can easily identify. It is their meeting to concentrate on the same project which will allow to realize beautiful things.
This is what the author, Jean-Dominique Zanus, demonstrates with this novel. Starting from fictional situations, he proves the benefits of some of his management methods. Whether it is in the learning of sailing and regatta, or even in the contact with animals, the author applies his precepts to his characters.
So very often the situations are too obvious, often we fall in the relationships, but the whole is nice, sometimes touching, and is pleasant to read. Especially since the explanations on learning to sail or on the analysis of decision making in crew or solo are quite interesting and sufficiently explained to make the reader think.
In addition, it should be noted that the author has a good command of his subject on sailing. Each of his explanations are clear, precise and do not require any editing.
Without a doubt, "Le secret d'Erwan Le Roc'h" will not be the prize of the competition this year, but it will be very much appreciated in the library of the saloon to offer a nice relaxing reading in the port as well as at anchor.
