Fécamp Grand'Escale, a great free maritime festival on the Normandy quays

On June 29, 2022, Fécamp will host the first edition of Fécamp Grand'Escale. This great maritime and port festival will take place until July 3rd with boat visits, parades, concerts and many other activities. All free of charge.

Promote the maritime heritage of the Norman city

In the heart of Normandy, Fécamp and its port has an important maritime heritage. Herring fishing, cod fishing and the construction of famous heritage boats have marked its history. To celebrate this and launch the summer season, the agglomeration is launching the first edition of Fécamp Grand'Escale. This maritime festival will be held every other year to welcome about a hundred traditional and pleasure boats of all sizes from France and Northern Europe, between Fécamp, Étretat and Yport.

A hundred remarkable boats to discover

Every day, 2/3 of the boats sail under sail in Fécamp harbor or parade towards Étretat and Yport. 1/3 of the boats remain at the quay and welcome the public if they can be visited. The others remain at the quay and display a high sail and flags.

We will discover the pilots of Le Havre, Marie Fernand and Jolie Brise, the pilots of Bristol, some big smacks of Essex, the big schooners alongside flotillas of sail and oar.

The Brixham trawlers and Baltic galleasses are in tandem in the Freycinet basin and the herring ketches from the Netherlands are resting in the Bérigny basin. The tall ships occupy the entire Joseph Duhamel quay in the inner harbor and, further east, the Verdun quay. In the access channel to the port, dories, faerings, oselvars and other Ness yawls parade in line. In the harbor, one can admire a dozen "old" motorboats and small horned yachts.

Stars of maritime gatherings will be present at Fécamp Grand'Escale such as Altair, the Belem, the Étoile du Roy, the Dutch steamer Hydrograaf, the Granvillaise, the Frenchman or the Renard.

A show on land or at sea

From the top of the cliff, on the promenade, on the quays, the pier, at the bridges, on the moles, the show can be admired everywhere from the land. About thirty boats will offer you the opportunity to cast off and take in the air of the open sea.
