Discovery of the maritime heritage in Brest and embarkations from July 9 to August 26
In the summer of 2022, Brest will host two highlights in the heart of the city, along the Quai du Commandant Malbert.
From July 9 to August 26, the Escales Estivales will offer the possibility to embark on heritage boats for a morning, afternoon or evening outing.

2022 will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Maritime Festivals of Brest from July 10 to 14, 2022. Organized every 4 years since 1992, this great maritime gathering brings together more than 1,000 boats from around the world. Cancelled in 2020, the next edition will take place in 2024. But the organization had to celebrate the anniversary of this great Breton festival.
The event is smaller in scale, but visitors will still be able to attend numerous free events, including commented "vire-vire" (boat turns) in Brest harbor. They will also attend the closing fireworks on July 14.
Among the hundred or so boats present on the quays of Brest, we will note the presence of remarkable sailing ships such as the privateer frigate L'Etoile du Roy, La Belle-Poule, and the Recouvrance.
Maritime Festival of Douarnenez from July 14th to 17th
The majority of the sailboats present in Brest will head south, a 28 mile sail, to reach the Temps de Fête on Douarnenez in the port of Rosmeur. Organized every two years, this maritime festival welcomes hundreds of traditional boats. On the program, many animations: street arts, demonstrations, projections, meetings, songs, initiations. The adult entrance for the day is 15 euros.
It will also be possible to embark for 2.5 hour sailings to participate in the maneuvers or simply enjoy the show. Demonstrations of flotillas and initiations, races and challenges but also maneuvering competitions will punctuate the maritime festivals. In Douarnenez, you will find the Cancalaise, the Recouvrance and the Corentin.
