More and more frequent anchoring on moorings
More and more coastal areas prohibit anchoring and are equipped with solid mooring buoys, maintained in good condition. These are attached to the buoys by large diameter hawsers, from which a loop emerges, made of the traditional and irreplaceable bowline, or a metal ring. This system was adopted to allow the sailors in stopover to connect their ship to the concrete block placed on the sandy carpet of the bottom. Unfortunately, catching this modest balloon from the deck of a catamaran or a large monohull, in order to pass a mooring line through it, is a real challenge that not all users manage to take up easily
Many more or less seasoned crew members come to break their reputation on this unfortunate pitfall. Taking the trunk is a very stressful maneuver for most family crews. Not escaping the rule, we have tested, for several years, several devices.
First, we equipped ourselves with these sophisticated modern gaffs, equipped with joint systems designed to hook onto the most resilient dead body terminals.

Improve the helmsman's visibility to position the boat
In order to optimize the chances of accomplishing a great finish maneuver, we also installed a camera to supervise the entire operation from the cockpit. Thus, the skipper can see, on a screen, the buoy and the gaff of his sailor, which allows him to steer in the best way to facilitate the seizure.

It is a simple rear view camera for motorhomes. It communicates with a screen by wifi. This inexpensive system gives complete satisfaction. So much so that the team member is sometimes applauded by the neighbors during the taking of coffers! That is to say.

Rear skirt trunk entry
Another method also exists without using technology: mooring by the stern.
Everything becomes simpler: the helmsman can see the buoy very well, even without a screen, and can easily approach it in reverse. The buoy is soon within reach of the sailor, who can easily grab it and put a piece through it.
Then, it is each one its taste either one remains like that and the external living area is very ventilated. Or we absolutely want to face the wind.
Rotate the boat on mooring lines
Without being difficult, this maneuver will require a little method, depending on the skill of the crew and the length of the mooring lines available on board. However, there will be no reason to stress as long as the boat is secured to the hull. It will even be possible to take a short break before proceeding with the final mooring, which will certainly give everyone a peaceful night.
