In this fourth installment of the Kaori 550 test, we look at the boat's options and pricing, as well as its positioning in the market.

Simple pricing with few options

As explained in the presentation of the boat, the Kaori 550 focuses on simplicity. The precept also applies to the pricing. The boat has few options.

In its basic price of 35 000euros HT, the sailboat is proposed with all the fittings and the rigging. The aluminum mast and boom are manufactured by AG+. The hull is painted, with 5 colors to choose from, while the deck receives an anti-skid paint. The interior is painted white. A low power electric motorization is included.

Sails are not included in the basic price. The budget with the sailmaker Turquoise Voiles in Nantes is announced around 4 500euros.

To gain in performance, the bowsprit allowing to receive an asymmetrical spinnaker is proposed at the price of 1 000euros.

Other options are available upon request. A curved glued laminated boom is proposed to work on the aesthetics of the boat.

The customers wishing to equip the boat for itinerant navigations can ask for the quotation for cushions, a stove 1 fire and bags of arrangement. A cockpit tent can be made by Turquoise Voiles.

The price of a boat out of the beaten track

Large-scale production is not very present in the field of new coastal camping sailboats. If the First 18 SE ex Seascape from Bénéteau is comparable in size to the Kaori 550, its construction method is quite different, using the most classic fiberglass. The boat has a base price of around 26,000 euros including tax.

Still made of glass, but in a niche sport-boat segment, the Bihan 5.80 from Marine Composite, slightly larger, but not intended to be habitable, is offered at a price of 35,000 euros including tax with its sails.

On a more similar program, with a comparable attention to materials and construction, we can look at the Flow 19 from Atelier Interface. Built in epoxy plywood and a bamboo roof, this transportable sailboat is also intended for coastal raids, with a slightly larger roof. It is offered at a price of 35 000euros TTC.

In view of the market, we can therefore consider that the Kaori 550 corresponds to the market price for a boat built to the unit with a concern for the choice of materials.
