Pierre Le Roy has just crossed the finish line of the 2nd leg of the Mini Transat in first position in the prototype category. With several hours of advance on his direct pursuers, Tanguy Bouroullec and Fabio Muzzolini, he ensures the overall victory of the event.

At the front on the first stage

Meteorologist by trade, Pierre Le Roy participated for the 2nd season in the Mini circuit. After a 5th place in the 2019 Mini Transat in series, he set off in 2021 to attack the Atlantic on the round-bowed Raison plan. His goal? Get on the podium!

After a 3rd place on the first leg between Les Sables-d'Olonne and the Canaries, he has just taken the first place on the podium in proto on this 2nd leg to Saint-François, with a course time of 13 days 23 hours 02 minutes and 9 seconds. Arriving at 2:02 pm (French time), his lead of more than 100 miles over his closest competitors (the same as on the first leg) ensures him the overall victory of the event in his category. He had a lead of 1 hour, 9 minutes and 19 seconds over Tanguy Bouroullec, winner of the first leg.

A desire for a bigger ocean race

"I'm very happy. Until the end, I was afraid of a comeback. I didn't know that I was first with so much distance. Now it's the liberation of the euro! I gave it my all during this second stage without ever letting go. I wanted to win and I did! It really came down to the weather strategy and not just the speed of our boats. I had a plan before the start and it worked. I trusted myself and made the right choices. I wanted to win the Mini with panache. I think I checked that box. I hurt myself physically and mentally, especially with the numerous sargasso that caused me problems. I have a big thought for my father who left us when I received the hull of my prototype. I think a lot about him. David Raison, the architect of my boat, made an incredible boat. I really love ocean racing. In the future, I would like to sail on bigger boats, do the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Route du Rhum and offer my services in weather routing. Thanks to my supporters and partners, TeamWork, who won a second Transat this year, Arthur Loyd, Oslo and Custo Pol" explains Pierre on his arrival.

This great victory is perhaps the first step that the sailor has just taken to reach his dream of sailing on bigger boats, such as Class40, as he told us in an interview . Congratulationsseuros!
