It is difficult to count the number of islands in the Glénan. Indeed, is it necessary to do it at high tide or low tide? The book "Les Glénan, histoire, mémoire et paysages" (The Glénan, history, memory and landscapes) stops on 12 (counting the ile aux Moutons more distant from the archipelago). This book draws a portrait of these magical landscapes, so popular with boaters.
For each island, in addition to the geographical situation, a short text explains the history and the functioning of the inhabitants when there are some. The presentation of each island is also an opportunity to explain the fauna or flora that lives on these places today protected.
One appreciates the old or recent photos which come to decorate the text, the aerial views which give a good outline of each island, but also the illustrations (drawings or watercolors) very present which enrich the reading agreeably.
Whether or not one is lucky enough to practice these magical places, this book offers a beautiful postcard of this inescapable archipelago of Southern Brittany. An iodized ballad full of charm and adventure.
