After a career in records, Sébastien Audigane joins the Class40 circuit

Sébastien Audigane will be the skipper of the Class40 "Entrepreneurs for the Planet", whose objective is to bring together creators of environmental projects and company managers.

Seb Audigane, one of the most successful ocean racers

He is one of the most popular crew members in the world of ocean racing. Discreet and eclectic, he is known for having an exceptional touch at the helm. Many sailors have called on him to break records: Jules Verne Trophy in 2005, Discovery Route in 2007, 24-hour distance record in 2007 and 2009, Tea Route in 2018 or the last Jules Verne Trophy with Francis Joyon in 2017.

After having sailed on all kinds of supports on all the seas of the planet, Sébastien Audigane launches out in the Class40 circuit on board "Entrepreneurs for the Planet", a 2017 Manuard design, deeply modified in 2021.

An eco-responsible partner

Sébastien is supported by the association "Entrepreneurs for the Planet", which brings together business leaders and environmental project leaders.

"Our goal is to create pairs between creators of projects with an environmental vocation and business leaders concerned about their ecological footprint" explains Quentin Gilles, the director of the association based in Marseille.

"We have created an online platform that brings together project leaders and company directors. The company director (Group, ETI, SME, VSE) will be a mentor for an environmental project of his choice, contributing his strategic vision, in a philanthropic approach. He or she may involve his or her employees in sponsoring the skills needed for the project. The company can thus initiate or confirm its ecological transition."

An optimized Class40

Bearing the number 151, the Manuard design is a Mach 40 built in 2017 at JPS in La Trinité. In the hands of Aymeric Chappellier, it finished second in the 2017 Jacques Vabre and the 2018 Route du Rhum ( Editor's note: in the colors of Aïna Enfance et Avenir ). Recovered by Sébastien and his team at the end of 2020, the boat has undergone a major optimization program this winter, in order to be able to compete in the upcoming races.

A program between the Mediterranean, the Atlantic and Martinique

Sébastien plans to stay in the city of Marseille until the end of May, in order to train, to make the boat reliable and to take on board the pairs of the association's program.

Then the Class40 will be transported to Vendée, where it will line up at the start of the Les Sables - Horta race, which will start on June 27, 2021 from Les Sables-d'Olonne. Sébastien and his team will then take the start of the mythical Rolex Fastnet Race, which will start for the first time from the port of Cherbourg in early August.

Finally, "Entrepreneurs for the Planet" will participate in the Transat Jacques Vabre, which will start on November 7 in Le Havre, for an arrival in Fort de France in Martinique.
