Lost in The Swell Patalluvia, an extraordinary surfing adventure to discover in photos

Lost in The Swell is the adventure of three surfers and friends from Brittany in search of incredible waves all over the world. The latest adventure takes them to Patagonia, in an inhospitable land, untouched by any human presence. They share their incredible adventure with us in their book Patalluvia.

Explore the west coast of Patagonia

Aurélien Jacob and Ewen Le Goff are free professional surfers. Under the watchful eye of Ronan Gladu - a passionate surfer and an experienced director - they travel the waves of the world in search of new spots.

They had always dreamed of exploring the west coast of Patagonia, known for its strong swells, its indented coastline, virgin of any human presence. Studying the maps revealed the presence of surfing spots. But the question was how to get there. The basic idea was to cross the land, but this project was finally too complicated to implement.

The realization of a project

But it was a meeting with Erwan Le Lann, captain of Maewan on a round-the-world tour, that finally enabled them to make their project a reality. For the past five years, Erwann has been criss-crossing the seas of the Globe aboard his 10.5 m sailing boat designed for the most extreme conditions. His boat also serves as a base camp for sportsmen and adventurers. So it was only natural that he suggested that the three adventurers join him on board during a stopover in Patagonia.

For this month-long journey, the four men will also be accompanied by Éric Péron, a professional navigator and amateur surfer.

It turns out that the boat is the ideal means of transport for this adventure, allowing easy access to surf spots, shelter in case of storm and carrying enough food to live independently.

One month to travel 1000 km of coastline

For a month, they will criss-cross the 1,000 kilometres of coastline marked on the maps. Although they are in spring - temperatures are milder and storms a little less frequent than in winter - we must not forget that they are sailing in the roaring forties. This is their first expedition in such cold latitudes.

The discovery of incredible spots

Surfers are always looking to discover new spots. And they hope to find the perfect wave discovered 5 years ago. After two weeks, doubt sets in..

But finally, they will discover two spots - Magic Bay and the White Wave, one of the most beautiful waves crossed in 10 of adventure.

A beautiful photographic work

After showing us their journey on video Lost in The Swell shares its adventure in a beautiful photographic work. Ronan was able to capture the beauty of past moments, the wild nature of the landscapes, the moments of sailing and sharing, and the surfing sessions.

In addition to the photographs, a few lines of text allow us to discover this incredible adventure. Quick to read, we won't get tired of coming back regularly to admire the sublime images.
