AG+ Spars, aluminium masts with innovative profiles

AG+ Spars has been producing masts for sailing boats for more than 20 years. After having had good results in light sailing, they now offer masts for IRC, ORC type Transquadra sailboats. With the same success!

AG+ Spars is a French mast manufacturer. It has its own production facilities to offer aluminium masts, but also builds carbon masts in its workshops in Charente. Its design office responds to customer requests by adapting the mast according to the boat's criteria: size, power, weight and RM.

The internal calculation tool for aluminium and carbon masts is the same. This manufacturer relies on its experience and racing results. It has knowledge of the rigs that have won IRC/ORC world or European races, the Transquadra (carbon mast for Alexandre Ozon and his Bepox, aluminium mast for the JPK 10.10 on the few previous editions) and all the latest Mini Transat 6.50 in series.

AG+ Spars has imagined a very innovative profile for cruiser-racing yachts. The M450 and M540 are aluminium profiles that are designed and extruded with an external rail offering several choices of mainsail. This rail on the aft side of the mast is integrated into the mast profile.

This system works for all mainsails, whether with a headsail luff tape, sliders or trolleys and it works very easily since there is no structural issue, you will always be able to hoist or lower the mainsail despite the handlebar.

As far as performance is concerned, the presence of the rail makes the profile steeper. The inertia is calculated with the system. They are also lighter than profiles with rail inserts fixed by screws. Moreover, this requires less maintenance and will increase the life of the mast.

Available for yachts up to 36 feet, these masts offer the best weight/inertia ratios with its integrated external luff tape. It is this profile that has been selected to equip the J99.

Today, it is the only credible alternative to carbon for regatta yachts with an adaptive programme
