Grand Trawler 62 for long distance, low speed expeditions

Bénéteau launches a new range of ocean-going expedition boats, the first model of which is the Grand Trawler 62. Space and comfort on board and low-speed range are on the agenda.

Long distance cruising objective

Bénéteau sees gros?! In the spring of 2021 - the shipyard having been delayed due to the Covid-19 - the Grand Trawler 62 will leave the Vendée shipyards. Directly inspired by the travel boats of the Swift Trawler range - made up of models from 30 to 50 feet - this model, 18.95 m long and 5 m wide, is intended for long-distance expeditions at low speeds.

"Customers want units over 60 feet to enjoy the weather at sea, with plenty of space and comfort, a great range, good seakeeping, fuel efficiency and safety. This is what we offer with the Grand Trawler 62" explains the builder.

Developed in collaboration with Nauta Design and MICAD, the Grand Trawler 62 has a displacement hull with the objective of autonomy - 900 nautical miles - and efficiency. In fact, the manufacturer indicates that it is 65% more economical than gliding boats of the same size.

Large indoor and outdoor spaces

This long distance cruiser is characterized by large indoor and outdoor spaces. Starting with a very large flybridge with a steering position, a comfortable saloon, an outdoor kitchen and a relaxation or storage area at the stern.

A secure cockpit extended by a hydraulic platform - "sort of terrace on the sea" - and a beautiful foredeck with sunbathing area are added to the outdoor spaces.

In order to maximise the connection with the outside space, the construction site chose a superstructure that is almost entirely glazed. Numerous rectangular hull portholes also bring light into the cabins. A choice that reinforces the very geometrical aspect of the design, whether you like it or not.

On board, there is a raised cockpit, a large saloon, a dining room and a completely separate galley, all in a contemporary interior design.

Available in 3 or 4 cabin versions - with a guest cabin at the bow - the Grand Trawler 62 also offers a crew quarter. In total, 6 to 8 guests will be able to sail in the greatest comfort.
