A proto born during containment
While the world is going through a strange period linked to the Covid-19 health crisis, good ideas are emerging in the world of boating. The Breton shipyard Astus Boat took advantage of the period of confinement to develop the Astus 14.5, a fun little prao that is very easy to use and transport. The prototype was tested on the water in 25 knots of wind and the return from the shipyard is clear: fun?!
Prao or trimaran version
It is by using a hull from Astus 16.5 and a float from Astus 14, two old models of the range that was born the Astus 14.5, proposed in two versions : Prao as standard or optional trimaran. Since then, the project has been entrusted to VPLP who has been working on a new hull mould and a new float. The boat - approved in category D - will be presented at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle at the end of September 2020.

Easy to use and transport
The idea of the Astus 14.5 is to be very simple to use and to transport on a car roof. No need for a launching wedge, like a kayak, you start directly from the beach. And after you've enjoyed it, you simply store it in your garage. The shipyard has also worked on the weight estimate to create a hull that weighs no more than 20 kg.

A sailboat for less than 5?000 euros
In its basic version - i.e. in Prao - the boat is delivered with a mainsail and displayed at the price of 4?900 euros including VAT. In its trimaran version, the Astus 14.5 is equipped with a gennaker or furling genoa, a second float and a trampoline and comes out at 900 euros more. As the tubes are not the same length on the two versions, you have to equip yourself with Prao version tubes to transform your trimaran.
Designed for an adult and a child, the Astus 14.5 promises great sensations on the water.
