The multihulls - Ultime and Multi50 - crossed the finish line of the Drheam Cup on Tuesday 21 July 2020. In the first category, it's the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild which wins. Solidaires en Peloton - Arsep takes victory in the Multi50.

Victory for the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild

Setting out on Sunday 19th July 2020 from Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, the large multihulls of the Drheam Cup completed their course on Tuesday 21st July in the Bay of Quiberon. In the Ultimes - which was the first race of the season - it was once again the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild who won this 750 mile course, which was completed in 1 day 21 hours 30 minutes and 33 seconds, ahead of Sodebo, 2nd just two hours from the leader. Actual Leader completes the podium.

Initially, the Ultimate were to round the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea and complete a course of 1?100 miles. However, in view of the weather conditions, the race directors decided to revise the course to avoid the 32m giants getting stuck in the calms of the high pressure.

"It was a very beautiful regatta, intense as we like it. There were tactical phases, others of pure speed, a lot of reaching in the end, like the second night to get to the Rochebonne cardinal, which was good because we didn't have such fast conditions last year on the Fastnet. It wasn't bad to be able to push the boat in these conditions, it's never easy to stay close to 40 knots all the time, as was the case last night. It was a nice finish. This race has been rich in lessons. It was a technical course in a small space, because the English Channel and the Irish Sea are not very big for our boats, so it allows us to review all the manoeuvres we can do in the Ultimate" explains Franck Cammas.

After the Fastnet in August 2019 and the Brest Atlantiques last December, the 3 e consecutive victory for the Cammas-Caudrelier duo (which was accompanied by a crew of 4 sailors). This race also allows them to position themselves sportily as they attempt to beat the Jules Verne Trophy record next autumn.
