Democratizing mini diving
Karbones is a mini scuba tank available in two versions, Alu and Carbon. The main difference between the two models is the autonomy, the first allowing you to breathe underwater for up to 10 minutes and the second for up to 12 minutes.
Nicolas and Clément, the founders of the company of the same name, have the ambition to democratize diving with an easy to use device. Simply insert the head of the tank in the mouth to breathe. As diving requires real skills, the company forbids the use of its tank to an uninitiated diver beyond 3 m depth. To do so, you will have to get close to a diving club and learn some basic notions. However, the tanks are approved for a depth of 40 m.
With a weight of only 1.2 kilos (1 kg for the carbon model), the bottle can be easily converted. Underwater, its perceived weight of only 1 kilo will allow it to move easily without any discomfort. Underwater, it is possible to control the pressure with the manometer. In any case, the company recommends that you first train on land before getting comfortable in the water.
If Karbones is mainly intended for snorkeling by replacing the mask and snorkel, the bottle also allows you to carry out checks under the hull of your boat for example. The company is also in talks with race and regatta organisations to equip the boats with this diving system, to allow skippers to repair their boats during races.

4 recharging possibilities
In addition to its low weight and ease of use, the bottle is also easy to refill. Either by using a manual air pump in 15 minutes, or by using a portable 220 V electric high pressure compressor in 3 minutes. The company has also just developed a 12-volt compressor with "crocodile" clamps for battery recharging.
It is also possible to refill with another scuba tank or a conventional diving compressor.
