Discovery / Galeon 400 Fly, a small 11-metre over-equipped yacht

The Galon 400 Fly is the smallest model of the Polish manufacturer's range to be equipped with these famous tilting bulwarks, allowing to enlarge considerably the cockpit area. On board, the shipyard has opted for the maximum amount of equipment.

Extendable cockpit

Galeon's 400 Fly launched in 2020 is a star with a flybridge of 11.03m. It is the smallest model in the range to have the famous tilting bulwarks, the trademark of this Polish manufacturer. The hull features large black glazing and a superstructure with black windows, other trademarks of the brand.

Like the largest models in the range, the cockpit bulwarks are folded out on each side to provide a large deck on the water. These two platforms, secured by stanchions and a rope line, perfectly complement the space already provided by the beautiful bathing platform at the stern, from which two storage lockers integrated into the structure of the outdoor galley can be accessed.

Spacious outdoor kitchen

The latter is very wide and offers everything you need to prepare a meal outdoors: cutting board, grill and sink. When sailing, two gates secure the cockpit and are easily hidden behind the galley furniture at anchor. A well thought-out system.

In the cockpit, protected by the roof cap, the layout is basic but sufficient: an L-shaped bench seat and a table.

Front sunbathing area

Access to the large sunbathing area on the foredeck is via the symmetrical gangways, well defended by the high rail, which is the perfect size to move around easily. The side cushions are equipped with two backrests. At the bow, one can enjoy the navigation, installed on the bench seat for 2 people.

Fully equipped flybridge

Back in the cockpit, a staircase secured by a handrail gives access to the flybridge. The latter is not very large (we are on a boat of only 11 m), but is fully equipped: L-shaped bench seat, folding table, kitchen unit with grill, sink and refrigerator, spacious and well-equipped exterior helm station (screen, joystick, GPS...). Finally, a second L-shaped bench seat installed on the front of the fly allows the pilot and the sun to enjoy the navigation. A bimini, stowed on the front can be installed to protect from the sun.

Brightness and lots of space

In the deckhouse, the main deck layout is very bright, thanks to the imposing windshield that lets the light flood in. It is divided into two spaces. At the stern, the saloon/dining area with a sofa to port and a small L-shaped saloon to starboard.

Forward - a small step separates the two spaces - there is an L-shaped galley to starboard with hob, fridge, sinks, oven and storage and a cockpit with a spacious dashboard (on which two screens can be fitted) and double bench seat. The starboard side door provides easy access to the foredeck for manoeuvring.

The yard has chosen a comfortable and cosy layout, with thick and pleasant upholstery. One could nevertheless feel a little confined with this somewhat massive layout, but the light and open access to the lower deck provide some ventilation.

Two double cabins, two bathrooms

Below deck is a double cabin with scissor bed forward. It offers a nice headroom and plenty of storage space. There are two head compartments with a w.c./shower area and a vanity unit.

Finally, the owner's cabin is installed in the centre of the boat with a central double bed. Here too, there are several stowage spaces, but the headroom is lower than in the forward cabin.

Options and configurations

The colours of the upholstery and partitions are left to the owner's choice. Presented in dark colours, the Galeon 400 Fly deserves to be discovered with lighter woodwork, which would reinforce the feeling of luminosity in the cabins.

The launch is equipped as standard with 2 x 225 hp Volvo Penta engines and can accommodate up to 2 x 400 hp. Approved in category B, it can carry up to 12 people.

Galeon has opted for a very complete layout and equipment on his 11.03 m boat, which would tend to overload the interior. Of course the sailing will be all the more comfortable, but you'll probably feel a bit confined.
