Parker 920 Explorer Max, an oversized cockpit for a 9.20 m powerboat

The Polish manufacturer launched its new Parker 920 Explorer Max at the end of 2019. This 9.20 m long model is inspired by the successful 790 Explorer, from which it takes its cabin. The différence?? A cockpit that's 1.20 m long.

After the launch of the Parker 790 Explorer in 2018, the Polish manufacturer Parker presents the Parker 920 Explorer Max, an extended version of the 790. While the cabin remains the same, the cockpit has been extended by 1.20 m. This new model has the same pilothouse design as its little brother.

The huge cockpit - 5.3 m2 - is fully modular and can be adapted to different practices: coastal cruising, fishing or water sports. One will appreciate the large U-shaped bench seat on the starboard side and the two cockpit tables that can seat 8 people to enjoy a meal outdoors. You can also remove the layout - the benches are screwed to the floor - to enjoy a large fishing area with a livewell. For a lazy version, the seat can also be transformed into a sunbathing area.

A 150 L cooler is located aft of the cockpit as standard and can also be used as storage for fishing catches. As an option, it is possible to opt for a tank with a 200 or 500 litre seawater pump. A second cockpit can be installed in the cockpit on the starboard side.

"It's a hybrid model, which we'll adapt for family use or fishing "explains Remi Pig?owski, the site's sales manager.

The high bulwarks secure the cockpit, a plus for family sailing. A gate closes access to the rear platforms that frame the engine. Their beautiful width allows easy movement from one side to the other. Moving around on board is easy, particularly via the starboard gangway secured by handrails. This gives access to the sunbathing area on the foredeck.

Inside, the Parker 920 Explorer Max offers a starboard-facing saloon - which can be converted into a bed - and a small galley equipped with an electric stove, sink and refrigerator. The cockpit is located on the starboard side of the vessel and has one seat for one person. The space is very bright and well ventilated thanks to the windows that can be opened.

At the bow, the cabin closed by a plexiglass door houses a coffin berth plus a double berth as well as a bathroom with shower.

The Parker 920 Explorer Max features a double-step hull and infusion construction. It receives a single outboard engine of up to 400 HP or two outboards of 225 HP. The shipyard announces a maximum speed on the lake of 39 knots and a speed at sea of 40 knots. In spite of a slightly "wobbly" appearance due to the extension of the stern, the boat retains a rather sporty look.

The price is 68?500 euros all taxes included, i.e. 12?300 euros more than the Parker 790 Explorer (56?800 euros) to take advantage of a 1.20 m longer cockpit.

"Thanks to this variation of the 790, we can offer a more competitive price since there was less design work. With this extended version, you can also have a larger engine than on the small model and especially a twin-engine, which was not possible on the 790. It's a boat without equivalent" concludes Remigus Pig?owski.
