After having deciphered the concept of the Amel 60, let's discover in more detail the deck layout. This large unit - extremely accomplished - promises a long journey on a functional and elegant boat.

Traffic on the bridge

Going around the Amel 60 is like taking a walk, as it seems so spacious. The rigid, very high balconies that surround the boat make it easy and safe to move around. The gangways are clear and it is easy to move from the cockpit to the deck.

The Amel bridge is covered with coloured gel-coat, the surface design varying according to the location is engraved in the mold. This method offers a finish worthy of good teak imitations with clear joint threads.

Compared to wood, it is much more durable and absolutely maintenance-free. Imagine a large fishing catch, the aftermath will be settled with a simple bucket of water on deck to erase all traces of the catch.

Large and functional storage space

In the back, a huge storage compartment allows you to store high fenders, an annex, a paddle, or even vélos?!

Unlike the Amel 64, there is no space dedicated to storing the inflated tender. The shipyard prefers to offer davits. A wise choice when you remember that an inflatable dinghy is intended to be deflated.

This large cargo bay provides access to the steering and pilot system. The assembly, of a rare quality, gives us a lot of information about the level of finish.

When driving forward, it is appreciated that most of the equipment is flush mounted in relation to the deck. We arrive at the bow where a deep and fairly easy access hold awaits us.

The will of a sailboat and not a fifty

When we ask about performance, the site spontaneously refers to the cruising speed of the engine. At 1800 rpm, the Amel 60 advances at 8.5 knots and we gain 1 knot more by pushing the 180hp to 2200 rpm.

However, under sail, the shipyard is proud of the performance of its new offshore cruiser. Amel's representatives announce that in 10 knots of wind at full speed, you are as efficient as you are with the engine. Still according to Amel, from 5 knots, we really sail and we're starting to have the pleasure of sailing.

The 170 m 2 of upwind sail area is responsible for pushing the 30 tonnes loaded on the Amel 60. And if it proves to be swift in light winds, there is no doubt that it will be powerful and reassuring in the breeze.

Overall, this shows the shipyard's desire to extend the range of use under sail.
